My “In Person” sessions last up from two and a half hours and groups will number 1 to a maximum of 8.

We meet at a location appropriate to the subject for the session where the plans for the day are gone through and the group gets to know each other and also their cameras. There will be short discussion of settings on the cameras to start the day with, a couple of challenges set to make things interesting, then we go out shooting and learning at the same time.

At the end of the session there will always be the chance for a coffee and a further review of photographs.

Sessions are often in Richmond Park, West or Central London, or along the River Thames.

Shooting Digtal Black and White

There are essentially two ways to shoot black and white with digital cameras. The sensors are all in colour, so you can either alter it in camera when you shoot or do it in postprocessing when you get back to your computer.

On this walk in the magnificent Richmond Park, we will explore the options for shooting black and white images in camera, with the settings and surprising number of options you may have to change the tone of your image.

A maximum of 8 people will be on the course. A digital SLR or mirrorless camera will be needed along with practical walk shoes as the park paths can be quite bumpy.

This course is not suitable for anyone using a camera on a telephone.

The course starts at 10:30am on Sunday morning, meeting at the Pembroke Lodge car park and will last two and a half hours at minimum. We are not “on the clock” whilst the aim is to return to Pembroke Lodge by 1pm, taking longer is not a problem.
